DD2 got her 1st job!

DH and I are very excited for her...as well as she is! She will be working at a movie chain. She had paperwork and some training on Thursday and today (Friday) is her first day!

There are some perks too....when she see's a movie, she can get 1 person in free....we also found out that her manager decided that if your child is working on a particular day, the parents can get in free! She says that extra perk seems to really help the kids (high school I imagine) really focus and are great workers...she wants to thank the parents for being supportive....I've never met her, but I think I really like her Smile She also gets a discount on concessions.

She also gave everyone 2 free guest passes....we hope to use these this weekend to see Les Meserables....with the 2 free passes, and DD2 being able to get one of us in free...DD1 can come with us.

Once she gets her first paycheck, we will go to the bank and have her open up a student account.

    What a fun 1st job! Congratulations to daughter. We were able to get teen buy-in to a proposed financial 'plan' for the 1st six months of earned income mostly because each so wanted access to my car on a share basis. The mantra they heard repeatedly was the need to have a plan or a goal because without a road map you'll so easily get lost! That worked out so well they just carried on with the same percentages out of habit.

    A movie theater was my first job! It's where I met my husband, he was an assistant manager. We got free tickets, too, up until 2006 when we finally moved away from the town. Miss that perk!

    My husband worked in a movie theater when we were dating. He had so much fun and we got to see a lot of free movies. Eventually he got trained on running the movie projectors, which has come in surprisingly handy later in life. I'm happy for your daughter even finding a job in this economy.

    That sounds like a really enjoyable first job, congrats! It is a huge step to lead your child into the working world, and it's great that she will have the insurance of being able to enjoy the perks with your family, as well. Smile Jerry
