Those are gorgeous. We are currently saving for a trip to Hawaii in 2018. What were your favorite things to see?

@LR-what island are you planning on visiting?

We haven't really figured that out yet. I know we want to see Mauna Loa but other than that we haven't explored too much of what we want to see. I just wanted to know what you liked best as a jumping off point.

LR- I have been to Oahu, Maui, and Kauai...Maui is my favorite. I really like the island...I found it to be clean with lot's of things to do. Went to Oahu when I was like 12. It was cool to see Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center....that being said, if you were to go to that island, I would consider "island hopping" and only going for a couple of days. It is a huge tourist trap and very crowded. In Maui, we went to Haleakala, a snorkel trip out to Molokini, they have a small aquarium (good for a morning or afternoon), the road to Hana, luau's, and we loved Lahaina (where the cruise ships pull in)...very cute town. Kauai was very beautiful and picturesque....green and mountains, waterfalls...alot of hiking if you are into that....DH loved it because he said it reminded him of the NW.....the one thing I did not like about Kauai, was that all of the guide books ect, talk about how all the good beaches have restrooms, changing area's and places to picnic....I have to say, every beach we went to (the most popular ones and recommended ones for swimming), the restrooms were absolutely disgusting! I would have thought that since some of them are state parks, they would have been kept up better, but they were all awful. Still, I certainly don't regret going...it is very beautiful, warm, and tropical and we had a great time. Kauai is definately a very laid back island...in fact, most of the islands all have a different vibe. I have not been to the big island, so no recommendations there. Hope some of this helps!

Yes, thank you. I think we are more into the scenery and relaxing, really. Snorkeling, waterfalls, and beaches sound great. Although I would want to see Pearl Harbor.
